12th September, 2014 CENTRE FOR WOMEN DEVELOPMENT (CWD) along with Team Sankalp went to one of the neighbouring villages Maharajapet for the awareness programme about Health and Nutrition. The Team of 10 CWD members and 12 Club Sankalp members reached the village at 9:45AM in the institute’s bus. The agenda was to make the women aware about the values of health & nutrition and to become aware about the standing of the village. The members of CWD created awareness on hygiene and sanitation among the women. Proper hand wash techniques were demonstrated by the members to inculcate good hygiene habits. Samples of the Healthy and Nutritious food were distributed among the women of the village who attended the programme. The samples included bananas and sprouts and also soaps.

A survey was conducted to get acquainted with the current state of affairs and prevailing status of the people in the village, so as to plan future drives accordingly. The survey that was conducted through verbal Q&A/interactions with the available villagers revealed that the population of the village is estimated to be around 3500 with around 1200 houses. The health care facility is at its abject level and there was a lack of medical representatives and health care centres to take care of even the basic requirements arising out of day to day errands. There is even lack of awareness among the villagers regarding agricultural practices, including the knowledge about the apt ways to use the fertilizers. The interactions with the villagers also suggested that at least 50% of the women in village are employed, of which a majority is employed at IBS Campus only. Also, people are keen on sending their kids for higher education but due to insufficient funds they are unable to do so. The awareness drive took a halt for the day only to come back on a future date and serve the solutions to varied needs with the intellects available at the "Management School" and the within spectrum of the Team.
