The ICFAI Law School offers both full time and part time research program (Ph.D) in Law

Full Time Ph.D. Program

Candidates registered for full time research shall work and conduct research on a full time basis under a recognized research supervisor. The duration of Ph.D. course for a full time research scholar is four (4) years from the date of admission.

Part Time Ph.D. Program

Candidates registered as part time researchscholars shall work and conduct research for four (4) years under a recognized supervisor. Candidates seeking admission as part time research scholars have to submit no objection certificate from the employer to pursue Ph.D. Course and also during summer term for attending classes of Ph.D. course work conducted in the first two years of the program.

The following are the admission modalities for admission into Ph.D (full-time and part-time) offered by ICFAI Law School, a constituent of the ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education (IFHE), Hyderabad.

Candidates registered for full time research shall work and conduct research on a full time basis under a recognized research supervisor. The duration of Ph.D. course for a full time research scholar is four (4) years from the date of admission.

Candidates registered as part time research scholars shall work and conduct research for four (4) years under a recognized supervisor. Candidates seeking admission as part time research scholars have to submit no objection certificate from the employer to pursue Ph.D. Course and for attending classes of Ph.D. course work conducted in two spells in the first two years of the program.

A candidate is eligible for admission into Ph.D. program, if he/she obtained aggregate of 55% marks and above at the Post Graduate Degree in Law in regular study mode from a recognized University and Ph.D Eligibility Test.

The following applicants who satisfy the eligibility criteria are eligible for admission into part time Ph.D. Program:

  • Regular teachers working in University Law Colleges or affiliated Law Colleges with a minimum of three years continuous teaching experience.
  • Practicing Advocates with a minimum of 5 years professional experience.
  • Judicial Officers with a minimum of 5 years experience. Retired Judicial Officers are also eligible to pursue Ph.D. Program in Law.
  • Any Gazetted Officer with a minimum of 8 years of administrative experience.
  • Any Executive with a minimum of 10 years of administrative experience in any recognized Law Firm/ Tax Consultants/ Public or Private Limited Company/ Company Secretaries/ LLP.

Admission into Ph.D. full time/ part time program in Law shall be through an entrance test (Ph.D Eligibility Test) and personal interview. All the candidates who satisfy the eligibility criteria shall appear for the Ph.D. eligibility test. The candidates who are qualified in UGC JRF (examination) / NET / SLET are exempted from appearing Ph.D. eligibility test.

The eligibility test is of objective type with multiple choice questions covering the subjects of Research Methodology, Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Law of Torts, Corporate Law, Labour Law and Jurisprudence. Syllabus for eligibility test on the above subjects will be given along with the application form. Duration of the test is of 2 hours. The minimum marks for qualifying the Ph.D. eligibility test shall be 50%.

Candidates who have qualified in the Ph.D. eligibility test shall be called for Ph.D. Admission Interview. After the Ph.D. Admission Interview the list of eligible candidates for registration for full time and part time Ph.D. program will be finalized.

    Fill and submit the online Application Form available on www.ifheindia.org/icfai-law-school-hyderabad, make a payment of Rs. 1,000 towards registration fee using credit card (Visa/Master Card/ Citibank Card) / Debit Card / Net Banking through the secure internet payment gateway.

  • Download the Application Form

    Download the application form, complete it, and send to the Admissions Officer along with a Bank Demand Draft of Rs. 1,000 drawn on Scheduled Commercial Bank towards registration fee in favor of “IFHE - Prospectus Fee A/c ILSAT 2025” payable at Hyderabad. To such registered applicants (online) hard copy of the prospectus will be sent.

  • Fill the Application Form

    Applicants can fill-in the application form given on page 3 and send it to the Admissions Office.

E-Mail

All applicants are required to indicate their e-mail ID, as all important communications relating to admissions will be intimated to the applicants by e-mail. Furnishing the e-mail ID is mandatory as it facilitates the applicants to receive information about the admissions and send their letters / correspondence by e-mail to: lawadmissions@ifheindia.org

The selection for admission into the program is based on entrance test conducted at all India level and personal interview. Due weightage will be given to academic distinctions, achievements in sports and extra-curricular and co-curricular activities.

Provisional selection letters for admission will be issued to the selected applicants. The provisional admission is subject to payment of admission / program fee, and verification of testimonials.

If an applicant is found ineligible even after admission accorded into the program, his/her admission is liable to be cancelled without notice. All admissions will be subject to verification of facts from the original certificates/ documents of the students. The decision of the Admissions Committee regarding eligibility and admission of applicant shall be final.

Students of Ph.D Program are required to pay a caution deposit of Rs. 5,000 along with the first semester fee. The caution deposit will be refunded without interest to the students on completion of the program. Caution Deposit is not adjustable against Program Fee and other dues.
